Meet The Optometrists, Dr. Steve Black, Dr. Kayla N. Black, and Dr. Lauren Jenkins
Dr. Steven G. Black is an optometrist in Terre Haute that has been providing quality eye examinations since 1983. In 1992, he moved to his current location, 4424 S. 7th Street, Terre Haute. He has been a part of the American Optometric Association for 45 years. His hard work and dedication has made the practice the successful business it is today. Dr. Steven G. Black is retiring at the end of 2024 after 41 years of excellent service and care. He values the people he has met and the strong relationships he has made with his patients over the years.
His daughter, Dr. Kayla N. Black joined his practice and graduated in 2015. They both receive their doctorate at Indiana University School of Optometry and are members of the American Optometric Association and the Indiana Optometric Association. As licensed optometrists, we provide exams, diagnoses, and treatments of disorders that affect the eye or vision. They are trained to recognize a range of health issues; such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes, and hypertension. They both work hard to stay current on the latest advances in eye health and vision care and regularly attend continuing education seminars and advanced training courses. They are dedicated to learning new technology and advancements in our field to give our patients the most up to date and progressive vision care available.
Dr. Lauren (Hambrock) Jenkins earned her doctorate degree from Indiana University School of Optometry in 2024 and Bachelor of Science in Biology from University of Southern Indiana in 2020, where she was also a member and captain of the women’s tennis team. At IU, Dr. Jenkins was an associate instructor and a member of both the Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity chapter and Ocular Disease Club. Through Dr. Jenkins’ experience she has developed a passion for ocular surface disease management and primary care. Dr. Jenkins grew up in Terre Haute and graduated from Terre Haute South Vigo High School where she was a two-time McMillan Award recipient. She is excited to return to her hometown and provide excellent eye care, give back to her community, and be close to her family.
